USPTO Trademark Application Response Time Cut in Half to 3 Months - Extension Request Available

ATTN: Starting December 3, 2022, the USPTO will cut the response time in half when responding to a trademark Office Action. As of today, December 2, 2022, any USPTO Office Actions issued for trademark applications provided the Applicant six (6) months to respond. Starting tomorrow, you will have one period of three months to respond followed by a fee-based three-month period extension. The fee to request the extension, which is likely a formality, is $125 for three months. This new rule applies only to Section 1 (use and intent to use) applications and Section 44 (foreign priority) applications. Feel free to contact scott@sisunlaw.com with any questions.
